breakfast at hong kong

during the months of nov, it can get a little chilly in the morning hours in the lovely city of hong kong. if we're lucky the temperature might drop all the way down to about 15'C or so. but if you're in the vicinity of mongkok, there's a coffee house along the road of tung choi kai where you get this awesome breakfast.

it's call a bei tan sau yok chok, hehe, which basically means skin egg lean meat porridge.
they serve this with a plate of yau char kuai. and as a side dish, a plate of fried cheong fun.

the cheong fun was ok, as it tasted pretty much how it look if you've ever had chee cheong fun before. it's oily fried with soya sauce and maybe a little chilly inside. it taste good when it's hot.

but to truly call it a good breakfast you got to have the porridge, and to further add insult to injury...

dip a piece of yau char kuai into the porridge, let it simmer for a while, take a spoon full of porridge with the yau char kuai in it, add a piece of the meat,

blow to exact mouth warming temperature, and enjoy every last bite while the blissful union of taste melts in your mouth...

definitely something to try if you're ever in that area and you love porridge or think porridge is ok when you're sick and can't anything else...

best porridge i've ever had...so far :)
